Dali is a great place to experience life of Bai ethnic group. Here are some recommendations of food in Daili Autonomous prefecture.

Three-course Tea

The three-course tea is a special way of the Bai people to treat distinguished guests. It that includes 'bitter tea', 'sweet tea' and 'final tea' and has become a traditional ceremony of Bai people since the Ming Dynasty(1368–1644). 

 

Fish in Casserole

Fish in casserole is one of the most famous local delicacies in Dali Bai Autonomous Prefecture. It selects tender sliced chicken and mushroom as raw materials. It is stewed with the sinamia or carp captured in Erhai Lake. Tourists can taste it one a pleasure-boat or some restaurants in Dali. 

 

Dairy Fan

Dairy Fan is the most outstanding product of Yunnan. It is a kind of cheese made from milk originally by Bai People. Dairy Fan derives its name from its shape. It can not only taken as a dessert but also cooked into different delicacies. You can buy some at the crossing of North Renmin Road and Commercial Street at the Dali Old Town. 


Pears from Haidong Town 

Pears from Haidong Town, on the eastern coast of Er'hai lake, is well-known in Daili. Every August and September are mature period for the pear. Thin-skinned, the pear tastes great.
